For my first walk to be included in the blog I was joined by Caroline, and our friends Joe and Denise. We had lunch first at the Three Roofs Cafe opposite the car park entrance. Excellent service, very tasty food as we sat outside in warm September sunshine.
We crossed back to the car park and followed the stream out of the back.
Heading left down Hollowford Road we saw a kid on a wall – irresistible photo opportunity!
The road becomes a bridleway and heads uphill, doubling as a stream after rain earlier in the day! You arrive at an excellent signpost!
Great views from here up to Mam Tor
We took the steep footpath up to Hollins Cross from where the views of Edale Valley appear and paths meet from every direction.
One of the teenage girls seen at the end of the video suddenly produced some loud dance music from a phone, and one of the lads quipped amusingly “you can take the girl out of the city, but…….”
We returned through the gate and right down the hill, into a wood. as the slope flattens a sharp left takes you past “Woodseats” and cross the farm track to take a path through the fields all the way back to Castleton.
Super lunch, super walk, super company!
And, what about the music. This, from one of Birmingham’s finest, popped up on my random play on the way home
Well done. Graham.
Just what we need.

Fantastic walk and lunch. Muddy and slippy in parts so wellies or boots would be a good choice of footwear. The fantastic views were well worth the climb. Thank you Cal and Graham.
