Introduction
A lovely day to get out, so Cal and I took the short 15 minute drive to Alderley Edge.
This easy walk is 2.8 miles.
It took an hour and a half.
The walk is mainly on tracks and paths in woodland, and the area is ideal for, and very popular with, dog walkers.
We walked in a clockwise direction.
The walk is on OS Explorer Map 268.
We parked at the first layby as you climb the hill from Alderley Edge village, postcode SK9 7BS, What 3 Words ///finely.gazed.public

The Walk
We set off from the lay-by, crossing the road to take the footpath opposite.

This is a lovely woodland track , which heads downhill. Cal was lagging behind slightly.

She was taking interesting snaps too.

The mainly birch woods evidence that this land has been fairly recently returned to nature from its rich mining history.

After a short walk down Artists Lane, we crossed the fields to the loud sound of a crowing cockerel, and reached the houses along Bradford Lane, where the wizard tree sculpture was previously featured in my walk of 20th May 2021 as pictured below!

We walked up Bradford Lane, keeping left at the fork and passed the mobile home park where a woodpecker was drumming vociferously on a nearby tree. After re-crossing the main road, we crossed the car park, by-passed the tea room and then stopped off by the mine entrance which was being investigated by two of many children enjoying a half term tramp in the woods!

We took a few moments to look at the large cave opening too.

Wandering on, we stopped off at the classic edge viewing point, looking north east towards Stockport.

All in all, a splendid way to pass a couple of hours!
And Finally….
We almost went to see ageing punk rocker Peter Perrett last week (it’s a long story, but let’s just say that life got in the way).
His 20 track album The Cleansing is full of thought provoking lyrics. This track is “Solitary Confinement”
Nice route. Me and Mary go round there a lot!. Have you tried any of routes in Alderley Patk
